What to Do After a Collision

If you become involved in an accident, the first thing you want to do is call 911 immediately and have the police or highway patrol respond to the scene of the collision right away. It’s extremely important that everyone be checked for injuries and treated immediately.

Even if it appears there is no damage to your vehicle, you still want to call the police and have the incident documented. A police report can be a crucial document in the event legal action is ever taken or hidden damage to either vehicle is discovered later.

Once home, be sure to contact your insurance company as soon as possible and inform them of the collision. When you get a moment, we encourage you to check your policy, because some policies require a 24-hour notice. In addition, your insurance company is there to help you deal with the other parties who were involved in the collision.
